Description of Award / Criteria

Tutor of the Year

Awarded to member of teaching staff or a personal tutor who makes a significant contribution to the academic experience of students. Whether inspiring students with a passion for the subject, energising the room or going above and beyond to make your classes engaging or offering support, this person will epitomise what it means to study at ULaw.

Business Staff of the Year

Your University experience isn’t just confined to your lectures and study groups. This award recognises those members of the university community who provide outstanding support or enhances your experiences outside the classroom. This could be a particularly helpful member of Student Information or a cleaner who always says a friendly hello.

Student Volunteer of the Year

This award is open to the following people: Vice-Presidents, Course Reps, Liberation Officers (LGBTQ+, BAME, Women’s, Disabled Students’, International) and Student Members of Governing Board

This is awarded to an individual who has had a clear and tangible impact on their group, project or cause. They will have shown a high level of commitment and be a positive role model.

Class Representative of the Year

This award recognises a Class Rep who has been consistently active throughout the year. They effectively voice the opinions of all students in their class, regularly attend SSLCs, provide detailed reports and demonstrate great organisational and interpersonal skills.

Leading Inclusivity Award (Staff)


 

This award recognises a member of staff who upholds and champions equal opportunities for all, regardless of their background or current situation. They work towards ensuring inclusivity and equality for under-represented groups and help to raise awareness or create change through events, campaigns or other activities.

Leading Inclusivity Award (Students)


 

This award recognises a student who upholds and champions equal opportunities for all, regardless of their background or current situation. They work towards ensuring inclusivity and equality for under-represented groups and help to raise awareness or create change through events, campaigns or other activities.

COVID-19 Hero

(1 for staff, 1 for students)

This award to presented to someone who has supported friends, colleagues or people within the wider community through the pandemic. This person may have volunteered for a covid-related cause, delivered care packages or generally provided uplifting opportunities and been a friendly (socially distanced) face over the past year.

Service Department of the Year

This award is open to the following departments: IT, Employability, Student Support, Student Information, Security, Assessments Team, Finance, Library, Facilities. It awards a team that consistently goes above and beyond to offer a great, friendly service to all students.

Creative Teaching Award

This member of staff uses creative and innovative ways to engage students with their learning. Their use of technology, resources or ways in which they extend learning beyond the classroom helps you further engage and enjoy the subject

matter, as well as improve your understanding.

Next Step Award

This award recognises a staff member in any department who has helped to prepare you for life after university. They may have helped you find opportunities to enhance your personal development, career choices or achieve your full potential. You will feel prepared for your next adventure as a result of the knowledge, experience, time or connections they use to help support your next step in life.
