Student Association Executive

Hi everyone, I’m Ella, your Student Association President. Nice to meet you!

I completed my LLB at The University of Essex where I held a number of student representative roles. I have recently finished my LPC at ULaw Bristol campus.

I have 3 main focuses for this year- Commercial awareness, Sustainability, and Community. Specifically:

  • I hope to encourage growth in your commercial awareness by creating a dedicated area on the website and starting a blog. I aim to organise talks from local and national businesses to help you gain valuable insight into how businesses are run and how they have been impacted by any legal changes, the economic climates, and social developments throughout the year.
  • I will also be re-enforcing the policy of sustainability and environmental protection as a priority within the Association and ensuring that it remains a priority in future decisions and plans made by the University.
  • The community spirit between campuses is important for student experience, so I aim to encourage cross-campus virtual events, as well as bringing in a Charity of the Year voted for by you so that each campus is connected by a common cause.

During this pandemic traditional university life and study has been turned on its head, and as a recent LPC graduate I have experienced this first hand. However, the Association is here to ensure that this does not have to have a negative impact on your student experience. I look forward to hearing your ideas and working with as many of you as possible (from a safe distance!) to create a university and academic year to be proud of.

Hi! I’m Emma and I’m the Student Association Executive Officer (SAEO), based on the Birmingham campus. I am responsible for the Association’s governance and ensuring that we are legally compliant and all our policies are up-to-date. Day to day, I manage the representation structures of the SA and support our President, Vice-Presidents, Course Reps and Class Reps, Liberation Officers and other student reps to fulfil their manifestos and conduct their roles. I also support students who request advice for complaints, appeals and disciplinaries. We are always looking for ways to improve your student experience, so if you have any suggestions or feedback, do get in touch.

I come from a background in policy and student representation and love seeing students setting up new projects and making the most of their time at University. I have worked with the Office for Students (previously HEFCE) and the Quality Assurance Agency since 2017 in a range of positions, including as a Quality Assurance Reviewer. My previous roles in Students’ Unions have seen me managing all areas of membership services and setting up new initiatives to improve employability skills. I am also a qualified British Sign Language tutor and teach in my spare time. Outside of work, I am a board game and jigsaw fanatic, enjoy taking the odd adult ballet class and have a 1 year old daughter who keeps me very busy!

Hi, I’m Harry your Clubs, Societies and Communications Coordinator.

I studied Music Technology at Leeds Beckett University, I also did a post-graduate course at the same University. I have a background in student representation. I worked as Vice President Activities at Leeds Beckett Students’ Union, where I worked very closely with the societies of the Students’ Union to put on events, deliver campaigns, boost their membership and presence within the University community.

My role here at the Student Association is to support students involved in clubs and societies and encourage new students to join or even create these student-led groups. Clubs and socs are an essential part of the university expierience and having them be student-led makes them all the more amazing and fun to engage in as you can to call the shots and control the direction of these groups.

I really enjoy working with students to help empower them to undertake extra-curricular activities whilst at University. I’m a big believer in getting the right work-life balance during your studies if you need help meeting new people while at ULaw I will do what I can to help find a society for you. I’m based at the Leeds campus, but I travel around quite a lot so I will see you around campus I’m sure.
