Student Association Executive

My name is Jakob Sexton and I am your Student Association President for the current year. I started my journey at ULaw in Manchester as an LL.B student. During my studies, I was elected to be the Vice-President for Manchester and in my final year, I was the Course Representative for the LL.B.

Over the next year, I plan to develop clubs and societies, review our university welcome and work on widening participation plans to increase success rates for students. I am based in the Manchester campus. However, I frequently travel to all campuses; if you see me around, feel free to chat with me about your student experience.

If you need to contact me at any point in the year or have any questions, please do contact me by email: Jakob.sexton@law.ac.uk

Hi, I’m David Smith, your Student Association Executive Officer.

I’m a LL.B law graduate who studied the BPTC at the London Bloomsbury campus in 2014/2015. Having completed the BPTC, I was fortunate enough to be appointed to the new role of Student Association Executive Officer in September 2015.

My main role is (amongst others) to advance the strategic direction of the Association along with the President and Clubs, Societies and Communications Coordinator, ensure I maintain control over the Association finances, and act as the Returning Officer for all Association elections and referendums. I am the Student Association’s regulatory lead and ensure the student voice in the quality and standards of our provision. I also deliver training to all Class Representatives and work with you all to ensure the student voice is heard at all levels and you have an input into the quality and standards of your course.

I’m based in Leeds, however, I shall be frequently visiting all of the other centres to meet with staff and students. This includes undertaking and delivering Class Representative training in late October / November. If you have ideas or feedback that you would like to share with me, please do get in touch at David.Smith@law.ac.uk

Hi, I’m Harry Walters your Clubs, Societies and Communications Coordinator.

I studied Music Technology at Leeds Beckett University, I also did a post-graduate course at the same University. I have a background in student representation. I worked as Vice President Activities at Leeds Beckett Students’ Union, where I worked very closely with the societies of the Students’ Union to put on events, deliver campaigns, boost their membership and presence within the University community.

I really enjoy working with students to help empower them to undertake extra-curricular activities whilst at University. I’m a big believer in getting the right work-life balance during your studies if you need help meeting new people while at ULaw I will do what I can to help find a society for you. I’m based at the Leeds campus, but I travel around quite a lot so I will see you around campus I’m sure.
If you want help getting involved in clubs or societies please get in touch with me: Harry.walters@law.ac.uk
